Business, Trade Groups to Strengthen STEM Pipeline

Business and trade organizations announced a partnership that will focus on increasing the number of students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The newly formed Business and Industry STEM Education Coalition parallels the goals of Opportunity Equation by bringing together more than 20 million employees nationwide in an effort to strengthen education through the lens of STEM and improve American economic competitiveness by developing new jobs and specialties and promoting best practices.

Obama Unveils Projects to Bolster STEM Teaching

President Barack Obama yesterday announced more than $250 million in private investments to help attract and prepare new teachers for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, collectively known as the “STEM” field, and to help improve instruction in those areas by practicing teachers.
